    @TheFreakingBeatles
    That’s how Gibson do it

@TheFreakingBeatles All I usually do is rub the glue in with my bare hands. I then will hold the pieces together for over 30 hours. It becomes quite difficult because having to go to the bathroom gets in the way. In Bolivia we don’t have c-clamps.

@TheFreakingBeatles Nitro can be beautiful if done correctly. For the final polish i got a buff pad for a drill and some fine compound and it polished to a mirror shine. I’ve experimented with shellac and buffed it with the same results. I’m going to shellac this next guitar I’m working on because it brings the figure out in the curly maple better.

  • Virgil605:

@TheFreakingBeatles i used Nitrocellulose lacquer. Definitely double check but I think read on one of the cans of lacquer you can use shellac as a base and use lacquer as a top coat. Use it in a well ventillated area, even with a respirator though. Nitro can be a pain in the ass. You have to spray in low humidity and there is a certain drying time between coats so they can burn into each other. Also it like to flake off at sharp edges or taped off areas like the fretboard.

  • TheFreakingBeatles:

@Virgil605 oh okay what did you use as a clear coat cus ive been working on an acoustic guitar and i used shellac and it sucks so now i have to find away to get it off (without sanding because ive already sanded 3 times and the top layer is coming off) and i have to find a new clearcoat, i was thinking about lacquer. Do you Know if that would work?

  • Virgil605:

@TheFreakingBeatles I actually tried clamps but they were going to slip off and just be an all around pain in the ass. I found the string has really good holding power and forms to all the curves.

  • TheFreakingBeatles:

you know im not an expert but i think clamps would work better than strings

  • mshes40:

  • aazocurries:

where did you buy your fret board from

  • Virgil605:

Thanks and Good eye! I love the lower half of those. I morphed the Eclipse and some other guitars together with Photoshop. Just had to stretch and rearranged everything until it fit together.

  • Crushuh:

That is a very nice guitar Where did you come up with the shape? The bottom horn looks like my Eclipse.Great job.

  • burliufo:

is my idea or an acoustic guitars string in the song is not in pitch??
btw nice band and great build !!!!!!!!

  • whitehair024:

    pretty nice…

  • StreakingInJanuary:

Yeah, I’m not a big fan of Active pickups period. I suggest DiMarzio Super Distortion (Bridge position), w/ DiMarzio PAF Pro (Neck). Well, either a Super Distortion or X2N.

  • Virgil605:

EMG’s are all I’ve known in my 2 years experience of guitars. I need to look into DiMarzio and Seymour Duncan a little more. Thanks for the advice.
