Love this version over RB1
I enthusiastically welcomed the design changes in the RB2 guitar, including self-calibration, more tactile strum bar, and quieter fret buttons.

Not perfect, but what is? It’s playable and that’s the important part
I think it’s possible that a majority of the negative reviewers just got lemons and if I were them I’d give the thing a poor rating too, but I also think the more “hardcore” you are about the game, the chances of you breaking an instrument go up. I play on “medium” or “hard” because I like to move around a lot when I play and I personally don’t like the idea of staring intently at the screen with all of my focus devoted to getting a high score. It’s much more fun [to me] to dial back on the difficulty in order to have more fun “role-playing”, but that being said, I can’t physically do “expert” difficulty [yet], so it’s not even an option for me right now. And I’m not trying to say that those people who can/want to play at “expert” are at fault for potentially breaking their guitars, but it seems the companies that make them should design these controllers to better handle the amount of input required of them at such high levels of play; it’s a shame, but I can’t relate yet. I just treat the thing with more care than it probably deserves, but I can definitely see how one could break one of these. It makes that disconcerting plastic creaking sound like it’s going to snap somewhere, but based on how it’s put together with the placement of the screws, it should hold up structurally. I would just recommend the obvious: don’t bang it around and hold/pick it up/swing it around by its weak points. Regarding the buttons, I’ve had no issues really, the frets are nice and wide and don’t make too much noise, they’re a tiny bit rattley but nothing terrible. The start/select buttons are basically out of the way; I’ve only accidentally hit the start button once and that was because I was being flashy. Initially, I wasn’t crazy about the strum bar, because it doesn’t have that satisfying Guitar Hero *click* to it, and it felt like you had to flick it pretty hard to get it to register, but that turned out to be either a calibration issue or it just needed to be “broken in”; now it’s a nice soft touch that I’m totally used to. Speaking of calibration, that’s probably the most obnoxious part. I recommend using the auto-calibration with the guitar’s built-in sensors and then going into practice mode on 50% speed to sort out if any fine-tuning is necessary. I ended up removing about 30ms of video lag because the guitar enabled me to hit a note wayyy later than it should have, and I wanted more leeway for an accidentally early hit. It’s annoying to do all of this testing but it’s really satisfying once you get it sorted out. Just keep in mind that the drums may not exactly “like” the same settings [for video at least] as the guitar[s] so you may have to find a compromise lag value. Overall though I have no major complaints [knock on wood/plastic], and yes I do recommend this guitar here. I guess my only real issue is price; I think it’s a bit on the expensive side, but that can’t be helped I suppose [it's also way more for xbox]. I would hope a majority of its price has nothing to do with the auto sensors, because RB only allows calibration for one instrument. So now that I have my values and I’m looking for a second guitar as a bass, I don’t need another auto-calibrating instrument – it’s a tad annoying. I think I’ll try for a cheap used GH:WT guitar and if that is awful or fails I’ll spring for this legit RB2 guitar as the reserve. Hope this way-too-long review was helpful in any way.

Awesome aXe!!
The Rock Band 2 PS2/PS3 Guitar is Awesome!! Plays excellent…as a musician who plays both guitar, drums, and vocals…this Rock Band 2 set up, meets all my expectations for a PS2/PS3 sim. This RB2 aXe has a GREAT feel to it!! .. I love the solo keys and the finger tapping option 4 solos!! … you can use the solo keys for regular play as the kids like to use them because they are smaller and closer…makes it easier for them to play…basically fun for the whiole fam!! I couldn’t be more happy about the whole RB2 set up!!

Great second guitar
Too bad the game “kit” only comes with one guitar when you’ll obviously need 2! I tried another budget guitar and ended up buying this one when the feel of the other one proved unpleasant and difficult. Save your money and buy this one from the start.

Awesome guitar!
First off, I want to say that this is a VERY nice looking guitar! Definitely NOT a “kid” looking toy. It’s larger than the other guitars out there, which is nice for adults. I like that the colors for the buttons are on the edges of the button, so the neck is one continuous brown color, thus making it look more “real”. It also has solo buttons, which is nice. A really great feature of this guitar is being able to change between the different “effects” settings on the fly. This allows for more creativity and individuality during songs. The control buttons are located in a place where you aren’t accidentally hitting them and are protected by raised plastic circles. The whammy bar FEELS kind of loose, but it works well and is easy to use. I have noticed that the strum bar doesn’t work as well going up, but works great going down. It was very easy to assemble and sync. For the money, this is a nice guitar!

Great group activity for all ages
The first time I heard of this genre of game… I disliked the concept and avoided it.
However, I was forced to spend a day at work demoing the features of a console and the only game was Rock Band. After watching my co-workers play all day and learning more about it I finally decided to purchase RB2 for my home console.
Wow! Everyone who has tried it loves it… Even when I’m on vocals! We have had a blast playing with the kids as well as the adults!
The guitar is of decent quality for a console peripheral. The drums in RB2 are hands-down better than the ones from RB and work very well. The microphone needs to be plugged into a USB port and is the only non-wireless device. I did need to buy a USB Hub from a local computer store to handle all the wireless receivers and I would highly recommend that you buy at least 1 (if not 2 or 3) rechargeable battery sets so you can play non-stop (and not go broke buying batteries).
If you commonly have 4 people looking for an activity, you will need to buy a second guitar peripheral so someone can play the Bass. If you enjoy the game and want more songs, you can purchase albums, collections and singles of your favorite artists for use in the game. They are adding more artists and songs all the time.

Rockin Out
This guitar is not much different than one that would come with the game. It has a new skin on it which was nice for variety sake.
It performs great and has a clear connection. It fits well in my hands and is easy to use. Being new to the Rock Band games, I found I was able to pick up this guitar and learn pretty quick.
Easy, fun, and a blast to play. I would recomend this guitar to fill out your band and fully enjoy this game!
